Saint Dominic De Guzman

Saint Dominic de GuzmΓ‘n, born in 1170 in Spain, is renowned for founding the Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans. A devoted scholar and preacher, he emphasized the importance of education and the pursuit of truth through study, prayer, and community life.

Dominic’s commitment to combating heresy and spreading the Gospel led him to travel extensively, sharing the message of Christ with a focus on compassion and understanding. He was known for his humility, deep prayer life, and dedication to serving the poor and marginalized.

His legacy lives on through the Dominican Order, which continues to promote preaching, teaching, and social justice. Canonized in 1234, Saint Dominic is celebrated for his unwavering faith, love for the Church, and commitment to spreading God’s word, inspiring countless individuals to pursue holiness and truth. His feast day is celebrated on August 8.

“A man who governs his passions is master of his world. We must either command them or be enslaved by them. It is better to be a hammer than an anvil.”
